One of the most beautiful craft supplies you can use is available to you in your own back yard. That’s right-you don’t have to look any farther than your garden for pretty flowers that can be pressed or dried to use in a variety of fun craft projects. Flowers are inexpensive and give your crafts that special earthy touch for little cost to you. Drying and pressing flowers is not difficult, so you can begin the process today.

The easiest way to preserve your flowers is by hanging them to dry. This works well for bouquets from your garden, as well as for arrangements you may give as a gift. First, remove any parts of the flower you don’t

wish to keep, such as excess leaves. Divied the flowers into small bunches so there is ample room for them to dry, and then tie the miniature bouquets together with ribbon or band them together with rubber bands. Hang them upside down somewhere that is dry so that your flowers don’t rot, and make sure the place is also dark, since light can fade your flowers. Check on your flowers every few days and they should be ready to use in your craft projects after just two weeks!

It s Homecoming at your son s school and the florist and grocery store want anywhere from $50 to $150 for a decent Homecoming mum. Of course, your son wants the $150 model. Bypass the big price tag with a hot glue gun, stapler, and a trip to your local craft store.

Hobby Lobby and Michael s are my favorite haunts for Homecoming supplies. I m sure wherever you live will have several stores that specialize in craft and hobby supplies. During Homecoming season most of these stores will specialize in local school colors, lots of bling and letters for names, and whistles and bells for bang.

I remember my mother wearing aprons ever since I was a small child. She used them to clean the house, cook, wash up, in fact everything! She would use the type that went over your head, down the front and back of you and these aprons would button up on each side with one small flap of material. That picture brings back memories of mum making apple pies in the kitchen! She was a naughty girl though and used to smoke too. Back then though, most people did, however this apron had two pockets on the front and she used to keep her cigarettes in them. She always told me that she smoked more whilst she was working… why,

I ll probably never know!
